MEET THE TEAM -

Max H. Story, Esq - Managing Partner

Mr. Story is a native Floridian, born in Orlando and raised in the US Virgin Islands and New Smyrna Beach. He was a Florida Merit Scholar and a Presidential Scholar, obtaining his Bachelor of Arts with Honors, from Rollins College in Winter Park. 

Mr. Story obtained his Juris Doctor degree with Honors from the University of Florida, College of Law in 2001. He served as Editor in Chief of the Journal of Technology, and as Managing Editor of the Journal of International Law at the University of Florida College of Law. He also served as a law clerk in Florida's 8th Judicial Circuit and taught at Santa Fe College.

Upon graduation, Mr. Story accepted a position in Jacksonville Beach, where he has managed a consumer protection law firm for over 15 years. He is married to his college sweetheart of 22 years, a licensed psychotherapist and they are active parents of 2 sons.


He is recognized nationally as a top consumer protection attorney and serves in leadership roles with the Florida Bar, the Consumer Protection Law Committee, is the Florida Co-Chair of the National Association of Consumer Advocates (NACA) and has served on The Board of Community Legal Services of Mid Florida.


He is a frequent speaker on consumer law topics and has taught at Annual Florida Bar Conventions, National Consumer Law Center Conventions, Florida Legal Aid Trainings, and the Jacksonville Bankruptcy Bar Association Annual Conference. He is an Avvo Superb (top rated) attorney.

Austin J. Griffin, Esq - Junior Partner

Mr. Griffin was born in Morgantown, West Virginia and moved to Jacksonville, Florida at the age of thirteen. He received his Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Florida in Gainesville.  

During his undergraduate studies at the University of Florida he received several honors including the UF Dean’s List, Delta Epsilon Iota Honors Society, and Sigma Tau Delta English Honors Society.

Mr. Griffin received his Juris Doctorate at Wake Forest University School of Law, where he focused on Sustainability & Environmental Law as well as Corporate Law. He has been notably published in the Wake Forest Journal of Business and Intellectual Property Law.

Lynette was born and raised in Michigan, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree at Northern Michigan University with a major in Office Administration and minor in Sociology. 

She offers over 20 years of extensive paralegal experience and also serves as a Florida Notary Public. 

She has been a Jacksonville Beach resident for over 20 years and has been working in many aspects of litigation support.

Nicole Story, EdS - Psycho-emotional Damages Consultant & Bankruptcy Coordinator

Nicole Story, EDS, LMFT, LMHC, NCC is the firm's on staff psychotherapist, ensuring the attorneys and staff have the mental health resources available from an expert understanding the full psycho-emotional impact and damages in various litigation cases. She consults and reviews independent psychological assessments and provides evaluation of diagnostic tools and their respective results, enabling the legal team to better fight for our clients and maximize a case's value.

With a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Rollins College and two graduate degrees from the University of Florida (course credit equivalent to a Doctor of Psychology degree) in Mental Health and Marriage/Family Therapy, Nicole brings over 20 years of psycho-emotional assessments, clinical expertise, training and supervision.  

From Ireland/UK, Nicole met Max at Rollins College, in Winter Park, Florida. They were married while attending Graduate/Law Schools at UF, and moved to Jacksonville Beach where they raise two active sons.

 

She has an active psychotherapy and clinical supervision practice and is very involved in the community having served as the President of the Foundation for the Beaches Resource Center, providing numerous resources to the Beaches Community, and as the President of the PTSAs at both Fletcher Middle School and at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. She also served on the Strategic Planning Committee for the Queen's Harbour Yacht and Country Club HOA board of directors. She serves as board member of the Guardian ad Litem Foundation serving abused and neglected children.

Nicole Story, EDS, MED, LMFT, LMHC, QS-FL, NCC, has lectured at numerous continuing education workshops providing CEUs for licensed psychotherapists and at colleges/universities, including FSU School of Social Work/Graduate School, University of North Florida, Jacksonville, FL. She led classroom and seminar formats as an Adjunct Professor, at Santa Fe College, Gainesville, FL and served as the Clinical Director of a 30 bed residential inpatient treatment facility, 15 bed detox and 5 outpatient programs, amongst various other leadership and clinical roles.

 

She served as the President of the Northeast Florida Association for Marriage and Family Therapy; as the Ethics Chair of the Florida Association For Marriage and Family Therapy Board of Directors; is a Strategic Partner member of the Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association; an Affiliate Member (Expert Witness - Psychological) of the Jacksonville Beaches Bar Association; and provides expert testimony, comprehensive evaluations, consultations and reports for Federal Immigration Court, USCIS and immigration attorneys nationwide; in addition to her role at Story Griffin, Attorneys at Law.
