James Tyer, Esq

Mr. Tyer has over 5 years of litigation experience with a background at Jacksonville Area Legal Aid in the Consumer Unit and the Housing Defense Unit, assisting tenants in eviction actions and in addressing collateral consequences of evictions. He also served as staff attorney with Legal Services of Greater Miami in the Community Economic Development Unit, assisting small businesses and non-profits; and Public Justice Center, Baltimore, Maryland. 

During his Juris Doctorate studies, Mr. Tyer served as a Legal Intern for the ACLU of Florida and Southern Legal Counsel, Gainesville.

Local to Jacksonville, Mr. Tyer graduated from Stanton College Preparatory School and then obtained his Bachelor of Arts from New College of Florida.  He attended The George Washington University Law School and obtained his Juris Doctorate (J.D.) cum laude from the University of Florida, Fredrick G. Levin College of Law.

He has appeared regularly on local news outlets speaking to the community about lansdlord-tenant rights, and has presented at statewide and national conferences on various housing and consumer issues.  James enjoys spending time with his wife and two Vizlas, paddleboarding or kayaking at the beach.
